The BTEC Higher
National Diploma (HND) is a specialist programme with
a strong work related emphasis. The qualification provides a
thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills
required in the sector with national recognition by employers
allowing progression direct into employment or to degree. |
Entry requirements |
| You
will normally need to have at least one of the following:
A BTEC National Certificate or Diploma in an appropriate
area
An AVCE/GNVQ in an appropriate vocational area
A GCE A Level profile which demonstrates strong performance
in a relevant subject or an adequate performance in more
than one GCE subject. This profile is likely to be supported
by GCSE grades at level A-C
Other related Level 3 qualifications
An Access to Higher Education Certificate awarded by an
approved further education institution
Related work experience or equivalent overseas
qualifications

More mature learners may present a more varied profile of
achievement that is likely to include extensive work experience
(paid and/or unpaid) and/or achievement of a range of
professional qualifications in their work sector. |
Course structure |

The
course is made up of sixteen units - eight core units, which
everyone takes, and eight specialist units. The specialist
units enable you to study particular areas in depth.

Course Assessment: |

This HND programme is assessed by a mixture of assignments and examinations. Each unit is internally assessed and graded
by qualified tutor/assessors and internal verifiers, and
then externally by an Edexcel examiner. Grades awarded are
Pass, Merit or Distinction. |
Progrssion Route: |
|
You may also top-up your HND to BA (Hons) Travel and Tourism Management at many other British Universities. With a British Honours degree you will be able to compete in the global market for job. Alternatively successful candidates in HND can enter employment or undertake further more specialist study. |
