On arrival in the UK all overseas students will have to go
through the immigration section to confirm they are authorised
to enter the UK for study purposes. It is, therefore, essential
that all overseas students carry on their persons the
Confirmation of Registration letter from ICON College, together
with evidence of financial support/sponsorship, such as a bank
draft or letter, to cover, at least the first year of their
study in the UK, as the Immigration Officer at the port of
arrival may wish to see them.
Students should also bring with them sufficient cash in pound
sterling, to meet their expenses on arrival for transport,
meals, and temporary accommodation, (say £50.00 in cash and a
supply of traveller's cheques). For students, who have not
reserved any accommodation, we suggest that they arrive in
London during normal office hours (9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.) on a
week-day and contact the College immediately on arrival so that
arrangements may be made to find them temporary and/or permanent
accommodation. We can arrange to meet overseas students at the
airport, provided we are advised in advance, before you leave
your country of residence.
Students arriving at Heathrow airport are advised to take the
London Underground's train (Tube) Piccadilly Line from Heathrow
Airport, changing at Hammersmith station, to Algate East station
(District or Hammersmith & City Lines), which is close to the
College. Students arriving at Gatwick airport should take the
British Rail train to Victoria station, from where they can take
the London Underground's District Line to Algate East station, a
walking distance from the College.
